Mayla Clark Training
Communication That Gets Results

About Mayla Clark

Mayla Clark is a communication skills coach and workshop facilitator. With over 25 years of corporate, university and non-profit experience, she consults with accomplished professionals who want to increase their influence and impact when interacting with and speaking to others.

She has been privileged to work with senior leaders and key individual contributors who have successful careers in high tech, law, medicine, venture capital, finance, marketing and the non-profit sector. For 10 years, she was an Adjunct Professor at Santa Clara University where she taught her 11-week class “Effective Oral Technical Presentation Skills.” This was part of the MBA program for Engineers and many of her students went on to leadership positions at companies such as Cisco Systems, Apple Computers, Seagate Technology and Xilinx.

Mayla also developed and facilitated her 1-day workshop “Productive Meetings” at Cisco Systems. For 8 ½ years she conducted all open enrollment classes in the Bay Area and around the U.S. With Cisco’s global presence, her class offered many tips and techniques for remote meetings resulting in more efficient, less time-consuming, better-organized sessions.

NetApp’s corporate training programs grew as the company did, offering Mayla the opportunity to conduct her 1-day “Effective Presentations” class once a month for over 6 ½ years throughout the U.S. She then created and taught her advanced “Presenting with Impact” workshop, which combines classroom training with one-on-one coaching. Her many private coaching clients at NetApp have benefitted from her practical advice and constructive feedback allowing them to refine both the content and delivery of their presentations while increasing their level of comfort and effectiveness in front of groups.

Mayla earned a B.A. degree from the University of California, Los Angeles and an M.A. from San Jose State University. She is a fourth generation Californian and lives, with her husband, in Palo Alto near their three grown children. She is a Board Member of SVPMA (Silicon Valley Product Management Association) and an active supporter of Breast Cancer Connections as well as Teen Success in San Jose, a program to help teen moms break the cycle of poverty and its accompanying challenges.

Mayla is literally an example of “you teach what you need to know.” Feeling shy as a child, even the thought of performing or speaking in public was traumatic. That’s why today she is dedicated to helping new and experienced communicators alike make the effort to “find their voice.” The power to persuade, stimulate people with your ideas, inspire an audience and transform your everyday communications is life changing. Her classes, coaching sessions and in-the-trenches experience teach immediately applicable skills and will inspire you to new levels of competence. She believes it is definitely worth the effort!
